What Happens When You Make Candles at 1am?

We're Halfway Through and I Spilled 3 Pounds of Wax at 1am

Somehow we're already past the halfway point of the year. I say "somehow" like I'm shocked, but really it's because time does this thing where it speeds up when you're not looking and then you wake up wondering where June went.

Here's the thing I've learned about myself: if I can't sleep, I absolutely should not be making candles. Or anything else. But did I try anyway at 1am the other night? Yes. Did I forget to close off the spout on the wax melter and watch about 3 pounds of wax pour onto my workspace like some kind of slow-motion disaster? Also yes. Oops.

It's one of those moments that feels funny in retrospect and infuriating in real time.

The bigger picture is this: I had a plan. Four new candles ready to go by now. We're at two. Still have two more on the list. And somewhere between not sleeping enough, not eating quite right, trying to stay on top of everything else, and frankly just losing steam on the creative side of things, time got away from me. It happens. The energy you think you'll have and the energy you actually have don't always line up.

But here's what I'm learning on the other side of that particular mountain: pushing through the chaos looks different than I thought it would. It's not about powering through on fumes. It's about understanding what actually works for you—for me, that means stepping away when I'm exhausted instead of making expensive mistakes. It means accepting that two candles done right beats four rushed ones. It means knowing when to stop and reset so you can actually come back to it.

If you're in the middle of your own version of this right now—whether it's a project you thought would be further along, a goal that's moving slower than expected, or just the general weight of trying to do too much on not enough sleep—you're not alone. And if you're on the other side of your particular mountain? Welcome to the grass-filled plain. It's nice here.

Through all the nuttiness, we did get some things done. Two new room sprays hit the shelves and joined our Enchanted Escapes collection—one has serious theme park energy, the other feels like checking into a really nice hotel. We also listened to some feedback on the beard oils. Three didn't quite hit right, so we pulled them and brought in three new ones instead. Two of them were scents people had been asking for, and High Sierra is the new earthy, rugged, pine situation we're pretty stoked on. There's more coming soon too.

So yeah. We still have two more candles to finish before the season really ramps up. Fall's coming whether we're ready or not, and honestly, I'm ready to be ready for it.

How's your summer going so far, now that it's officially been here just over 12 hours? Enjoy it, take it slow when you need to, and just have fun.
